2009 Congress, Porto, Portugal, "Low Carbon Cities"
The 45th ISOCARP Congress took place in Porto, Portugal. Questions raised were the following:
How can spatial planners world-wide play their part in addressing the causes and effects of rising greenhouse gas emissions, now established as the principal cause of climate change? What techniques are appropriate in the planning and design of the Low Carbon Cities that will be needed in the future as our urban populations expand?
Drawing upon six keynote papers from international speakers, 16 technical seminars and over 100 workshop papers, the Congress concluded with its statement Seven Ingredients for Low Carbon Cities.
