Who we are

ISOCARP is a global association of experienced professional planners. The organisation is structured as follows.

The President
The President leads and represents the Society, as well as brings their own focus on actions and policy.

The General Assembly
The General Assembly, which consists of all members, directs the work of the Society, decides on the Constitution and controls the Administration.

The Council of ISOCARP
The Council of ISOCARP consists of the members of the National Delegations, the members of the Executive Committee and former Presidents.

The Bureau
The Bureau is composed of the heads of the National Delegations (or their deputies) together with the members of the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is charged with the general management of the society. It develops policies and proposes these to the Council and General Assembly. It is formed by the President, and for one year each the Past President and the President Elect, up to 9 Vice Presidents from different countries and the Secretary General. More about the Exco>

The Secretariat
The Secretariat takes care of the every day administration of the Society. Full details on the Secretariat>

The Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee keeps ISOCARP at the forefront of professional thinking in planning. The committee monitors developments in society and the planning profession and aims to present these to ISOCARP in periodic reports. More about the Scientific Committee>

Editorial board and juries
ISOCARP has an editorial board to oversee and edit its publications. For its various awards, it constitutes juries as required.
